Welcome to the Greater Augusta Utility
District's geographic information system (GIS) home page. Right click to download the linked document below and choose "save as" or click to open it. The District uses Trimble R8 RTK GPS devices to precisely locate manholes, catch basins, valves, hydrants and other infrastructure for inclusion into the geographic information system (GIS). Interns are hired each summer to operate the equipment and locate field assets. The data are incorporated into the GIS using a wide variety of attributes. GIS is the first step toward the District's asset management program which will help provide data to ensure that infrastructure that is most in need is replaced soonest.
