North & South Chestnut Street, Augusta |
|
The City of Augusta is rebuilding a section of North and South Chestnut Street in Augusta during the summer of 2011. The District is taking advantage of the reconstruction to replace old water, sewer and stormwater pipes at the same time. CH Stevenson from Wayne was the low-bid contractor for this project. The total project cost for all of the work is estimated at $474,000. As of Friday, June 17th, the sewer is 100% complete on North Chestnut. Manholes need to be vacuum tested. The stormwater main is 100% complete. The City's underdrain needs to be installed. The water main has been installed, pressure tested and disinfected. If it passes the disinfection tests over the weekend, the connection to North Street will happen Monday or Tuesday and then all of the water services will follow.
