State Street, Augusta

Maine DOT notified the District that it was planning to remove and replace surface pavement in 2012. The District had scheduled the old water main in State Street to be replaced in 2013 but moved the project up to 2011 to meet MDOT's schedule.

The project is being done by CH Stevenson from Wayne, Maine. Stevenson was the low-bid contractor. The bid for the drinking water work was $768,945. The bid for the sewer work was $108,700.

The drinking water work is being funded by a $700,000 loan from the Maine Municipal Bond Bank. The remainder of the project costs are being paid with cash reserves.

Work on the southerly end of the project has been completed. Paving will be completed on gravel trenches from the Warden Service memorial south as soon as the paving contractor can schedule the work.

For the week of October 17, the Contractor will be moving northward along State Street from Union Street to Capitol Street.
